More Information
Here at List of Life, we aim to cater for stags who want something more than the standard night out on the town so we are offering a fantastic Woodlands Survival Weekend which gives you the chance to learn some brilliant survival skills as well as having a smashing night out (in the forest) with your friends and family.
Our very own survival expert will teach you a multitude of important survival skills and techniques used by the military when on missions in harsh environments but don’t worry, our expert, Neil, will make it a fantastically fun weekend. A passionate outdoorsman who has spent time in most of the wild & remote parts of the United Kingdom, including North West Scotland, the mountains of Wales and Dartmoor in his home county of Devon.
You should arrive at around 10am on the first day to meet your instructor who’ll lead you through the woodlands to your campsite. After a short safety briefing and introduction session, we’ll show you how to find the best materials to use in building a shelter and help you to put together a bivouac that’ll see you through the night.
Later, you’ll learn the basics of lighting fires and important knife skills before working together to prepare your meal for the night – a stew made from plants and meat which has been gathered from the bush. While that cooks, we’ll teach you how to carve and whittle and judge which of your stags has the best hand.
After dinner, you’ll continue the competitive activities with an axe throwing session, then you’ll have the opportunity to relax and tell stories around the camp fire for the rest of the night; If you’ve brought alcohol with you, this is only allowed to be consumed after all knives and axes have been put away.
After a hearty breakfast, we’ll give you a water finding, drinking & purification lesson, then finish up the tutorials with a trap building and game catching workshop; everything should be over and done with by around 1pm on the second day.
The price includes everything you’ll need to do these activities as well as all food and drinks (no alcohol is supplied or available from us); you’ll need to get to the meeting point – there are car parks in all of our locations; and you’ll need to bring some sensible gear to remain comfortable in the outdoors – see the Survival Weekend Kit List.
